A Nottingham university student died in hospital following an assault.
Police have launched a murder investigation after Arjun Singh, 20, who was studying at Nottingham Trent University, died after being taken to the Queen’s Medical Centre following the attack in Long Row, Nottingham shortly before 4am on Saturday.
Nottinghamshire Police said detectives are eager to trace two men who fled the scene on foot following the incident.
Detective Inspector Richard Monk said: “This was a serious assault which has resulted in a young man losing his life.
“Our thoughts are with Arjun’s family and friends and we would ask that people respect their privacy at this very sad and difficult time.
“It is really important that if anyone has any information that could help the enquiry, no matter how small it may be, they come forward immediately.”
The senior officer added: “If you were in the area of the Slug and Lettuce public house around 3.45am on Saturday morning and have not yet spoken to the police, I would urge you to come forward.
“We need to hear from anyone who may have dash-cam footage, including taxi-drivers who were in the area of Long Row West and Angel Row at the time, or any mobile phone footage of the incident.”
