Roads around Walsall town centre will be closed off on Sunday 17 November to make way for a procession to celebrate the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad,
The event organised by the Pakistan Muslim Welfare Association and the Birchills Mosque will look to start at 12pm, participants will walk a circular route starting and ending on Birchills Street.
The procession will pass through:
- A4148 Blue Lane West, (footway only – road open)
- A34 Green Lane (footway only – road open)
- Old Birchills, crossing Bentley Lane
- Pargeter Street
- A454 Wolverhampton Road, (footway only – road open)
- Raleigh Street
- Jessel Road
- Hollyhedge Lane
A spokesman for Walsall Council said: “This is an annual event, organised by Pakistan Muslim Welfare Association and supported by the Birchills Mosque, to mark the birthday of the Prophet Muhammad.
“It will require a number of roads to be closed for a limited period of time, to ensure the safety of the participants whilst the procession passes
“The procession is expected to start at approximately 12pm, aiming to be completed by approximately 1.30pm and will be taking the following route: Starting on Birchills Street, A4148 Blue Lane West, (footway only – road open), A34 Green Lane (footway only – road open), Old Birchills, crossing Bentley Lane onto Pargeter Street, Pargeter Street, on to A454 Wolverhampton Road, (footway only – road open) Raleigh Street, Jessel Road before crossing Hollyhedge Lane to finish on Birchills Street.
