‘If you smoke ANYWHERE on our site you will be fined £50 – even in your car.’ This was quoted by Midlands’s hospital trust warning patients and visitors.
West Birmingham and Sandwell hospitals NHS trust has brought in a zero tolerance ban for people who smoke cigarettes and all smoking shelters are now off limits except for people who use vapes.
If you are caught smoking on our site you will be served a fine of £50, quoted by the trust.
The trust are saying there sites will and are being patrolled by wardens, backed up by CCTV to make people stop smoking.
The trust say that they are also opening vape shops on site to try and put an end to smoking.
Kevin Eva from the trust said: “Smoking kills, so smoking is not allowed on our site…. that includes cars parked on our property.

“If you are caught smoking on our site you will be served a fine of £50.”
Joe Lucas, the head of retail for Ecigwizard, said his company was “incredibly happy” to support the trust’s smoke-free status. “We are keen to offer vaping as an alternative to smoking, as a means to help people cut down or quit,” he said.
