Former Head of the Bank of England Lord Mervyn King was in Birmingham last week (13 April) for a charity lunch in aid of Midlands charity, Acorns Children’s Hospice.

A Patron of Acorns, Lord King was interviewed by Marc Reeves, Midlands editor-in-chief of Reach PLC at the event, which was attended by representatives from businesses and organisations across the West Midlands.

Held at the Opus restaurant on Cornwall Street, the ticketed event gave attendees the opportunity to hear from Lord King on wide ranging subjects including sport, politics and economics before a short question and answer session.

Acorns Children’s Hospice offers a network of specialist palliative care and support for babies, children and young people with life limiting and life threatening conditions, as well as support for their families.

In the past year Acorns has cared for over 870 children and more than 1,140 families, including those who are bereaved.
