A passenger in a taxi was thrown through the window and ended up beneath the overturned cab in a dreadful accident on one of Birmingham’s busiest roads the A34. Fire crews said the other car involved left the crash scene.

The victim was dashed through the back window when the taxi collided with a car in Stratford Road, Hall Green on Monday 18th February. Opposite Hall Green Health Centre, at around 7.30pm.

The taxi driver was helped from the wreckage and suffered only minor injuries.

The female passenger was rushed to hospital.

Firefighters later warned others: “Always wear your seatbelt”.

A Facebook post from Billesley Fire Station read: “RTC Stratford Rd, Hall Green. 2 car collision.

“Passenger ejected through rear window ending up underneath rear quarter of vehicle.

“Fortunately only minor injuries and not trapped. Driver assisted out, uninjured.

“Other vehicle involved left scene. *Always* wear your seatbelt.”

A spokeswoman for West Midlands Ambulance Service said: “We were called to reports of an RTC involving an overturned car in Hall Green just after 7.30pm last night.

“We sent one ambulance, one paramedic officer and a merit doctor. One patient, a woman, was taken to Heartlands Hospital for relatively minor injuries.”
