A cyclist was taken to hospital with ‘life threatening injuries’ after a crash with a car.
This morning Police closed Queslett Road, in Great Barr, and asked motorists to avoid the area.
The westbound side of the road was closed near Great Barr Medical Centre after a car collided into a cyclist. The crash took place around 7.40 am near to the junction with Netherhall Avenue.
“Upon assessment ambulance staff found he was in a serious condition and required advanced trauma care at the roadside before being conveyed by land ambulance on blue lights to Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham for further emergency care; the doctor travelled with the ambulance crew to continue treatment en route.”
A West Midlands Police spokesman said: “The cyclist was taken to hospital with life-threating injuries.”
Traffic queues formed around the island outside Asda’s Queslett store in the aftermath.
