Two men have been charged with terrorism offences and will be sentenced today.
Safwaan Mansur, 22, from Hampton Road, is one of two men charged after allegedly preparing for terrorist acts.
Hanzalah Patel, 22, and from Frederick Road, Leicester, has also been charged with the intention of committing acts of terrorism.
A West Midlands Police statement read: “Two men have been charged with terrorism offences after allegedly preparing for terrorist acts.
“Safwaan Mansur, aged 22, of Hampton Road, Aston, and Hanzalah Patel, also aged 22, of Frederick Road, Leicester, will appear at Westminster Magistrates Court this afternoon.
“The pair have been charged with the intention of committing acts of terrorism – between May 31, 2017 and June 24, 2017, engaging in conduct to prepare to travel to Syria contrary to section 5 Terrorism Act 2006.”
