A man was attacked with a huge saw during an unprovoked street attack on Alum Rock Road on Monday morning.
The victim was in his car at the traffic lights on the corner of Alum Rock Road and Highfield Road , opposite Dixys Chicken takeaway, around 11am, on Monday 19 March, when two men reportedly pulled up beside him and started punching him through the car window.
West Midlands Police said the victim retaliated but one of the men then went to his boot and took out a large saw.
The victim was hit several times over the head before fleeing the scene in a car.
The victim was left with cuts to this head and needed hospital treatment. Police are appealing for information about the assault.
West Midlands Police said: “Police are investigating an assault which left a man with head injuries, that took place at around 11am on Monday 19 March, on the corner of Alum Rock Road and Highfield Road.
Sergeant Matthew Marston of Erdington CID said: “This appears to have been an unprovoked attack and we are keen to find out the identities of these two men. We know that there were several people in the area at the time, and are appealing to anyone who can help us with our enquiries.
