Police have launched a murder investigation after a man was found ‘beaten to death’ at a bedsit in Mansel Road, Small Heath on Tuesday 30 January
Police say a man was found beaten and unconscious at a bedsit property in the road, which is off the busy Coventry Road and later died of injuries.
Detective Chief Inspector Edward Foster, from West Midlands Police, said: “Clearly we are at an early stage of the enquiry, but we understand there was a fight inside the address that led to a man suffering fatal injuries.
“We have identified some significant witnesses and are conducting quick-time enquiries, but we are keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time and heard a disturbance or perhaps someone running from the scene.”
The murder scene is just yards from Small Heath Park and off the busy A45 Coventry Road.
A police van is blocking the entrance to Mansel Road, close to the George and Dragon pub and the Alaturka restaurant.
Police are calling for witnesses who may have heard a disturbance or seen anyone running from the scene.
Anyone with information is asked to call West Midlands Police on 101, quoting log number 2151 30/1.
