Colleagues of Sajid Mohammed Shehzad have paid tribute to the “wonderful man” who was killed in a hit-and-run incident on the morning of the 29th.
Mr Shehzad was stood by his parked car on City Road, Edgbaston, when he was struck down. He was pronounced dead on arrival at Queen Elizabeth Hospital.
His colleagues at taxi firm Falcon Cars have offered warm tributes to the 47-year-old father of four.
“He was such a wonderful man,” said one co-worker.
“I’ve worked with him for a number of years, and everybody here is devastated. I was shocked when I heard the terrible news, I just can’t believe it.
“He was a great man to work with,” he added.
The driver of the vehicle which hit Mr Shehzad at the junction of Rotton Park Road and Shenstone Road is still being searched for by police.
Sergeant Alan Hands of the West Midlands Police’s Collision Investigation Unit appealed to the public saying, “At the moment, we are keeping an open mind around what might have happened but we really need anyone who witnessed the collision or the lead up to it to give us a call.”
“I would urge anyone who saw what happened on City Road or has any information to urgently call my team.”
