Veteran broadcaster Anita Bhalla and communications expert Farzana Baduel are the guest speakers at an Asian Business Chamber of Commerce event to mark International Women’s Day.
International Women’s Day is celebrated throughout the world to recognise the progress that has been made to inspire women and to celebrate their achievements.
This year, it takes place on Wednesday 8 March – and ABCC is holding its own celebration at Edgbaston cricket ground.
As well as enjoying a varied 26-year career with the BBC, Anita Bhalla has presented a host of other national programmes. She is currently Chair of Performances Birmingham Ltd (Town Hall and Symphony Hall), the Creative City Partnership and a board member of the Greater Birmingham & Solihull LEP.
Anita has also won a string of awards and received an OBE in 2009 for services to broadcasting and communities. Farzana Baduel is founder and CEO of Curzon PR – a strategic marketing communications agency trusted by international governments, corporates, luxury and cultural brands. She set up Curzon in 2009 after previously serving as vice chair of business relations for the British Conservative Party.
As a thought leader, Farzana regularly contributes to international publications, writing on PR & marketing, entrepreneurship, emerging market brands going global and diversity in the media. She has provided expert commentary for the BBC, Forbes, FT, Al Jazeera and PR Week. Farzana is also the Editor of The PR Insider, a digital platform dedicated to the world of public relations. Her keynote speaking engagements have included KPMG, Chartered Institute of Public Relations and King’s College London.
ABCC director Anjum Khan said: “Following on the success from last year and our main speaker Baroness Warsi, you are invited to join us to celebrate women’s achievements locally, nationally and internationally. “The event is expected to attract a wide range of businesses from across the region and it will provide an excellent opportunity to meet fellow members and enjoy a vibrant evening of networking in a relaxed atmosphere.”
The event is open to all businesses. Tickets are £28 (plus VAT) for members and £40 (plus VAT) for non-members.
A three-course meal is included in the ticket price.
A number of sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are also available. For more information contact: events@birmingham-chamber.com
