Sitcom star Adil Ray has fired off at President-Elect Trump for his treatment of Muslims. Adil, the star of Citizen Khan, took to social media to air his grievances, following suit after Hollywood actress Meryl Streep.
Whilst accepting a Golden Globe, Streep criticised Trump for mocking a disabled man, saying it ‘broke her heart’ to see “the person asking to sit in the most respected seat in our country” flailing his arms in impersonation. Trump immediately hit back at the star from his home ground of Twitter, saying: “Meryl Streep, one of the most over-rated actresses in Hollywood, doesn’t know me but attacked last night at the Golden Globes…
“For the last time, I never “mocked” a disabled reporter (would never do that).”
Adil Ray then tweeted back at Donald Trump, saying “Donald you didn’t know me, but attacked me and billions of other Muslims. Doesn’t feel great does it?” It has since been retweeted over fifty times and liked over a hundred times.
When interviewed by the New York Times, Trump replied, “I was never mocking anyone. I was calling into question a reporter who had gotten nervous because he had changed his story.
“People keep saying I intended to mock the reporter’s disability, as if Meryl Streep and others could read my mind, and I did no such thing. And remember, Meryl Streep introduced Hillary Clinton at her convention, and a lot of these people supported Hillary.”
