As preparations are being made for Christmas across the world, one owner Mr Abul Azad of Roopnogar in Plymouth U.K is preparing a Christmas curry for those who are less fortunate due to their circumstances.
Abul Azad has been working with the city’s only Sikh Councillor Chaz Singh who is a prominent person in the Asian community and well known to the Bangladeshi community in Plymouth. Abul approached Cllr Singh about preparing a lunch just before Christmas.
Cllr Singh has worked extensively in the community and arranged for Abul to serve a lunch to residents and staff at the George House based in Plymouth. George House is for those who are vulnerable and provides supported housing for homeless people.
Owner of the Roopnogar Takeaway Mr Azad said ‘in the name of humanity it is my duty to help those in less fortunate circumstances and to encourage others to do as well. I’d like to thank Cllr Chaz Singh for making this happen and educating me in how we can all live, work and prosper in a multi-faith Plymouth’.
Nicola Greenfield of Bournemouth Churches Housing Association and Area Manager Devon, Somerset and Avon at George House said ‘ ‘It was a pleasure to welcome the wonderful food prepared by Roopnogar Indian Restaurant into George House Homeless Hostel. The Christmas Curries were a real treat for people who find themselves without a home at this time of year. People living at the hostel enjoyed the delicious food so much that they prepared a card especially to say thank you. We hope we have an opportunity to welcome Roopnogar again in the future’
Chaz Singh said ‘its great to see communities come together at this time of year and able to show how we can care and share for each other’.
