The REP is to to run its REP Foundry programme for another three years after securing grants from the Esmee Fairbairn Foundation and the Leverhulme Trust. The REP Foundry discovers theatre artists and works to develop them as they begin their careers.
The hugely successful scheme is one of the most prominent in finding and nurturing West Midlands talent. A team of experienced theatre professionals and specialist industry partners work to mentor and support mentees to give them the best chance of changing their budding carers into booming ones.
Arts Council England recently awarded The REP with the ‘Ambition for Excellence Award.’
The programme was originally created in 2013 by artistic director Roxana Silbert. Silbert says “Now more than ever theatre must continue to encourage ideas, talent and creativity and we’re passionate about making that happen in the heart of the UK.
“We’re thrilled with the success of REP Foundry and now thanks to the generous support of the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and the Leverhulme Trust we are able to further our capacity to discover, develop and help promote more new theatre talent.”
