5th July marked The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham’s 20th anniversary and to celebrate, the attraction offered some fantastic deals and launched its #IGrewUpWithSeaLife campaign.

The first 100 people who visited received the 1996 entry price of £5.95 with a limited edition golden anniversary pop badge and anyone who was born on 5th July 1996 visited for free!

Not only this, teachers and children from Walmley Infant School enjoyed the celebrations and recreated a school trip that happened 20 years ago!

Debbie Sunderland, teacher from Walmley Infant School said: “Everyone was so excited to be the first school through the doors of The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham on the day it opened 20 years ago.

“No one had seen exhibits like these before. It was a totally unique experience and very informative.

“For many children, it was their first opportunity to interact with marine creatures. It was an experience that I and many of the children have never forgotten and we are glad to be here again and experience all the new attractions first hand.”

The fish of course were treated to some delicious 20th anniversary birthday cake and visitors were able to enjoy the UK’s only 360° completely transparent Ocean Tunnel and new attraction Clownfish Kingdom, coming face to fin with some incredible underwater species including the popular Clownfish and Blue Tang.

And if all that wasn’t enough, Sea Life Birmingham has also launched its brand new #IGrewUpWithSeaLife campaign.

This campaign will not only give visitors a chance to win fabulous prizes, including a family pass and a season pass, but it will also allow them to share their memories of visiting the attraction over the last 20 years.

All the attraction is asking visitors to do is share photos of their trips to The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham by uploading it to a special page on the attraction’s website: http://bit.ly/IGrewUpWithSeaLife.

The attraction will then reward the top ten with a family pass, and those ten will also be put into a public vote to choose the overall winner.

The public’s favourite photo will then receive an annual pass, meaning the winner can visit the popular family attraction as many times as they wish within a 12 month period! What’s more, the attraction has also thrown in an animal feed, sure to be a great experience for the winner!

The top ten and main winner will be selected and announced by Friday 30th September, so all entries must be submitted by Monday 19th September.

Whether you visited with a friend you lost contact with, and would now like to reunite. Or maybe The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham was the destination of the best first date ever, or first day out as a family.

Or maybe it was just a way to while away the afternoon with friends. Whatever the reason might be, if the attraction holds a special place in your heart, then share it with others.

Amy Langham, General Manager at The National Sea Life Centre Birmingham said: “It was a fantastic day and it was great to see so many visitors through the doors!

“It’s the perfect time to launch our #IGrewUpWithSeaLife campaign and we look forward to seeing guests’ photos of the memorable visits that they have had here over the past 20 years.”
