The West Midlands Academic Health Science Network (WMAHSN) is inviting members of the public, patients and carers from across the region, as well as representatives from NHS organisations, academic institutions and industry, to join them at Celebration of Innovation 2016, their annual stakeholder event.

Bringing to life the 2015-16 Annual Report, showcasing programmes supported and introduced by the WMAHSN over the past 12 months, this free to attend event at the University of Warwick on Thursday 30 June will inform delegates on the impact that the WMAHSN has made on improving health and wealth.

The day will begin with breakfast and the chance to visit the exhibition, with an excellent opportunity for early networking. Lunch and refreshments will be provided throughout the day, and on site car parking and wifi will be available.

In addition, this year’s annual stakeholder event will launch the WMAHSN annual Celebration of Innovation Awards, celebrating innovation in healthcare across the West Midlands and reflecting the AHSN’s priorities and themes. The categories include the Innovator of the Year Award and the Innovative Organisation of the Year Award, as well as prizes for Digital Health, Person-centred Care, Wealth Creation, Clinical Trials and Evaluation, Patient Safety and Education and Skills. The closing date for all entries is 12 noon on Friday 27 May, and more information can be found on the WMAHSN website at www.wmahsn.org/resources/documents/celebration_of_innovation_awards.

Dr Christopher Parker, Managing Director of the WMAHSN, said: “By attending this event, delegates will learn about the progress that the WMAHSN has made over the past year on more than 30 innovative programmes, which aim to improve health and generate wealth for the people of the West Midlands, as well as rewarding innovation in others via our inaugural awards.

“The event will allow 200 or so delegates to network with others who have a stake in health provision across the region, building on the West Midlands’ growing reputation for adopting cutting edge technology, access to academic excellence and the country’s largest life sciences industry cluster, kickstarting the local economy and enhancing patient care.”
