Record Crowd Comes to Annual Event

Lions Club of Coventry Godiva held their first Beer Festival on Saturday 9th May 2015 in collaboration with Daimler Green Centre.

The Festival was very well attended with 12 different ales available from local breweries. The ales were appreciated by all who attended. The Lord Mayor of Coventry, Councillor Mrs Hazel Noonan attended the event and spent considerable time talking to organisers and visitors. She was also given a tour of the Daimler Green venue which was opened by The Mayor in May 2014.

The Festival was organised as a joint charity fundraiser. The Lions’ nomination was towards The Coronary Unit at Queen Elizabeth Hospital, Birmingham and Daimler Green’s nomination was towards the Sikh Union Prosthetic Limb Project, India. A Grand total of one thousand and six hundred pounds was raised on the day and will be shared by the two nominated charities. Northampton Punjabi Association also supported the event with a ‘hot dog’ stand serving traditionally flavoured and spicy pork sausages in a bread roll.

Lions president Abbi Kundi stated, “We are so encouraged by the turnout, I am going to propose to my committee to make this festival an annual event”. An even bigger turnout is expected next year, thus raising more funds for charity.

Daimler Green and Godiva Lions thank all their sponsors, supporters and team members for their ongoing support and enthusiasm.
