World’s Biggest Bollywood Dance Academy to show in the Midlands
Hundreds of dancers from Leicestershire, Birmingham and Coventry will come on stage to perform at the first Spring Funk Show in the Midlands organized by the world’s biggest Bollywood dance academy, SHIAMAK!
Students from the Shiamak Davar Dance Academy will display style from across the world in a show themed ‘World Dance Beats’ at De Montfort Hall, Leicester on March 21. Taking the audience on a dance and music journey, students will showcase styles including Bollywood Jazz, Contemporary, Hip Hop and Salsa amongst many others.
Anand Bhatt, Midlands Co-ordinator of Shaimak Davar Dance Academy said: “We are very excited to bring this show to the Midlands for the very first time. The Funk shows are renowned across the globe and will provide a great opportunity for local people here in the Midlands to see Bollywood dance in a brand new light.”
Shiamak Davar is known as the Guru of contemporary dance in India and is responsible for modernizing India’s dance scene, especially in the film and theatre industry. The National Award winner has choreographed for the IIFA Awards, the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games in Delhi, the closing ceremony of the Sydney Commonwealth Games and for a number of hit Bollywood films.
The academy has reached out to over a million dance enthusiasts worldwide, spread across six countries and has trained the biggest Bollywood stars including the likes of Shahid Kapoor, Varun Dhawan, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan and Sonakshi Sinha to name a few.
