30 Kilos of Heroin And 12 Kilos of Cocaine Have Been Recovered
A man from Birmingham is one of three people who have been remanded in custody after police seized drugs with a street value in excess of £5 million.
Zahid Mahmood, 42, from Handsworth, was charged with conspiracy to supply cocaine and heroin along with Romeo Apostu, 43, of no fixed address, and Bas Van Der Weijden, 40, from the Netherlands.
A car carrying a suitcase containing approximately 10 kilos of heroin in the boot was stopped in Gravesend by Kent Police with an additional three drug-laden suitcases found in a second car.
Police estimate 30 kilos of heroin and 12 kilos of cocaine have been recovered overall.
The men will next appear at Maidstone Crown Court on March 27 in connection with the investigation.
