Opportunist Thief Sought
Police are searching for an opportunist thief who stole £300 from a Birmingham pensioner’s bank account after he lost his card.
The 70-year-old used the ATM outside Union Street’s Santander Bank in the city centre just before 10.30am on New Year’s Eve and walked away having made a withdrawal.
Realising he’d left his card he returned moments later…but instead of finding his card he discovered only a receipt showing £300 had been taken.
PC Gurprit Bains, from Birmingham Police Investigation Team, said: “The offender clearly spotted an opportunity and took it, stealing hundreds from an innocent pensioner.
“We are keen to find this man, who was seen on CCTV, and is suspected of being involved in the theft.”
