Small Heath Attacks Are Not Religiously Motivated
Police in east Birmingham investigating attacks on businesses in Small Heath and Sparkbrook − where windows were smashed − have moved to stress the incidents are not racially or religiously motivated.
Statements have been taken and officers continue to trawl CCTV which may have caught the vandals in action.
Chief Superintendent Richard Moore, from Stechford police station, said: “At this time there is nothing at all to suggest that the crimes were motivated by the shopkeepers’ race or faith. In fact we believe that the damage caused was by individuals specifically targeting these three businesses.
“Our inquiries continue and we urge anyone with information about the broken windows to get in touch.”
CCTV enquiries show that a newer model silver Ford Mondeo may be involved. Work continues to trace the car and those inside.
Anyone who may be able to help trace the vandals should call police on 101. People who do not want to speak with police officers directly can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
