Students Raise Thousands for Charity
Generous Year 11 students from Hodge Hill College have raised over £2000 for national charity, Cancer Research UK.
For the past couple of months, have raised money through various activities that included Christmas-themed clothing, cake baking, creating Mehndi designs, football tournaments and Hodge Hill’s Got Talent.
In addition to this, throughout the year of 2015, the college will be supporting two charities.
Head Boy, Ismail Walsh explained why the school chose Cancer Research UK as their first charity. “Cancer, unfortunately will affect all of us in some way during our lifetime.
“It is important that all of us play our part in raising awareness and money for research and hopefully one day there will be a full cure.”
The current total raised by Cancer Research UK stands at £2,053.35, with the next charity chosen by Head Girl, Tasmin Begum, being, Autism Awareness.
A representative from Hodge Hill College said, “It is hoped that the generosity of the students, staff and local community will help them once again raise awareness and money for worthwhile causes.”
