9 people arrested at Nawaab Restaurant for immigration offences
A swarm of police vans and motorcycles raided a restaurant in Levenshulme, Manchester as part of an immigration operation.
9 people so far have been arrested on suspicion of immigration offences, 6 were arrested at the restaurant and three others following inquiries.
Over 10 police vans and other unmarked vehicles, along with motorcycle outriders, were seen to make their way down Stockport Road. After parking outside the restaurant officers then stood guard outside before entering the building.
Levenshulme police later tweeted that they were supporting an immigration operation carried out by the Home Office. The restaurant confirmed that police and UK Border Agency officials had been there, but the restaurant owner Mahboob Malik refused to comment.
Nawaab is known for its spectacular banqueting suite and famous all-you-can-eat restaurant menu, influenced by Pakistani and Indian cuisine the restaurant has been a favourite amongst the local Asian community.
