Hairdresser Shot in the Leg in Surprise Attack
Police are appealing for witnesses who may have seen a car leaving the scene of a shooting at a Birmingham hairdressers.
Officers were called at 10.08am to Wajid’s Corner Hair Cutting shop in Somerville Road, Small Heath following reports of a man being shot inside the premises.
A 41-year-old man was taken to hospital with a leg injury, where he remains in a stable condition.
The offender, a man wearing a balaclava, then left the premises and escaped in a car, which was possibly driven by another person.
Police investigating the shooting are appealing for anyone who saw a silver coloured Volvo car, possibly an S40, which was seen leaving the area at speed following the incident. The car drove off along Benedict’s Road towards Coventry Road.
Detective Inspector Nick Dale from the force’s Violent Crime Team, said: “Investigations are at an early stage but we believe this was a targeted attack. We are appealing for anyone with information about the car or anyone who may have witnessed the shooting to contact police at Stechford on 101 or the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.”
