Police Re-Appeal Attack on 28-year-old Woman

Police investigating a sex assault on a woman as she walked home along a busy Birmingham road, have released clearer CCTV image of the suspect in a bid to re-appeal for information.

The 28-year-old woman was attacked as she walked home along Soho Road in Handsworth around 12.20am on Friday 19 September

As she walked into Alfred Road, a man came up to her and sexually assaulted her, after which the woman managed to escape and run off.

The offender, who appeared to be drunk, was last seen running past the coach station in Alfred Road and turning back into Soho Road.

He is described as an Asian man, aged around 35 with black hair and beard. He was approximately 5’4 and wearing a red and white checked long-sleeved shirt and grey hoody and jeans. He was also carrying a bag over his shoulder and a white coloured plastic bag.

DC Natalie Adkins from Birmingham’s Public Protection Unit, said: “Local enquiries are on-going and we now have a crystal clear image of the man we want to trace in connection with the assault. I’m hoping this will jog someone’s memory, although the attack took place in the early hours of the morning, the area is still a main road and I believe people may have been about.”

Anyone with information should call police at Aston on 101.
