Starring Kuljinder Singh Sidhu
Wolverhampton is to host the premiere of what the Times of India called the most eagerly-awaited Punjabi movie since ‘Sadda Haq’ – ‘Yoddha The Warrior’.
Kuljinder Singh Sidhu – in the title role of a film he also co-wrote and co-produced – plays an ordinary man turned by fate into a fearless warrior.
Kuljinder is joined on screen by Rahul Dav, Girja Shankar, Unati Dawara, Nasar Khan, Mahabeer Bhullar, Haktor Sandhu, Ajay Jethi, Dinesh Sood, Sandeep Kapoor and Vicky Harwinder.
Councillor Elias Mattu, Wolverhampton City Council’s Cabinet Member for Leisure and Community, said: “Staging the premiere of Yoddha The Warrior is a terrific coup for Wolverhampton.
“That the film’s UK and European distributors Dharam Seva Films have chosen our city rather than London for the film’s first UK screening is a magnificent tribute to all of Kuljinder’s local fans and Punjabi film goers.”
Kuljinder Singh Sidhu said: “We know that Wolverhampton’s Punjabi-speaking community makes a real and valuable contribution to the city’s life.
“It’s a privilege to be able to share our latest film with them.”
Sunny Singh, from Dharam Seva Films, said: “We are excited to be working with Wolverhampton and have been made very welcome. This city has great facilities for an international film like Yoddha. Punjabi cinema is being acknowledged more and more globally and we are thrilled that Wolverhampton wants to host this premiere.”
Yoddha The Warrior will be premiered to an audience of invited guests at Light House Cinema in Wolverhampton on Tuesday 28 October, 2014, and screened at selected cinemas nationwide from Friday 31 October, 2014, including Cineworld at Bentley Bridge, Wednesfield.
