Contestants of the reality show range from actors to cricketers
One of the most controversial programmes on Indian television is back with its 8th season. Bigg Boss, which began on September 21st, has a very confusing line-up. Contestants range from actors to cricketers, however participants are relatively unknown. Take a look:-
Ajit Chandila: Ajit is an off spin bowler from Haryana, India. He plays for Rajasthan Royals currently but was previously known for his performance for the Air India North Zone team.
Upen Patel: Having had a successful career in modelling, Upen went on to make his debut in 36 China Town. The movie earned him the Best Debut award.
Gautam Gulati: The TV actor came into the spotlight when he was seen in TV show, Pyaar Ki Ye Ek Kahaani. He later went on to do serials like Crazy Stupid Ishq, Suvreen Guggal-Topper of the Year and Diya Aur Baati Hum.
Karishma Tanna: Karishma became popular with her first TV stint as Indira Virani in Ekta Kapoor’sKyunki Saas Bhiu Kabhi Bahu Thi. She then went on to do other popular shows like Shararat,Kkusum among others.
Arya Babbar: Though Arya made his debut in the industry in 2002 with Ab Ke Baras, but he only became a popular face when he played a police inspector in Farah Khan’s Tees Maar Khan, which starred Akshay Kumar and Katrina Kaif in lead roles. However the film bombed at the box office. He then shared the screen space with Salman Khan in Ready and it is being said that Salman has recommended Arya’s name this year.
Sonali Raut: Younger sister of Indian model Ujjwala Raut, Sonali modeled for the Kingfisher calender in 2010, before making her big Bollywood debut with The Xpose this year. She received positive feedback from the critics.
Sushant Digvikar: Sushant grabbed the headlines when he was crowned Mr Gay India 2014 earlier this year. He represented India at Mr Gay World 2014, but didn’t win the title.
Sushant Singh: Sushant made his Bollywood debut in 1998 when he played the role of Pakiya in Satya. Over the years, he played supportive roles in several films. However, he became quite popular when he started hosting Savdhaan India on television.
Mariam Zakaria: Though this Iranian actress with Swedish nationality made her Bollywood debut in 2009 with the film, Paying Guests, she only came into the limelight with her role in Saif Ali Khan-Kareena Kapoor starrer Agent Vinod.
Mohit Malhotra: Mohit started his career with the reality show Spitsvilla 2, which made him popular amongs the youth. He then appeared in TV shows like Mitwa Phool Kamal Ke, Sasural Genda Phool, Bade Achhe Lagte Hain and Kya Hua Tera Vaada.
Puneet Issar: Puneet is most famous for his role as Duryodhana in the TV adaptation (1988–1990) of the Mahabharata, and directing Garv: Pride and Honour, that starred Salman Khan. His other notable roles are in JP Dutta’s Border, and second lead in the cult Indian horror film Purana Mandir.
VJ Bani: Gurbani Judge (Bani J) is a well known face of urban Indian television thanks to her work over the years for MTV India. Known for her outspoken nature, attitude and unwillingness to play games with contestants, Bani fast became a public favorite and ended up becoming the runner up of the MTV Roadies (season 4). Her performance was well received and paved the way for her to become an anchor on MTV shortly after.
