Will Be Mumbai City FC’s Marquee Player
Arsenal and Sweden legend Freddie Ljungberg landed in India late last night to a loud and warm welcome at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport from fans who had gathered there well ahead of his arrival.
Mumbai City FC’s marquee player emerged from the airport to loud cheers and chants from people bearing posters, jerseys, and other memorabilia. The winger-playmaker acknowledged his fans before he was whisked away by club officials.
Ljungberg will immediately link up with the rest of the squad, who are based in Navi Mumbai ahead of the upcoming Hero Indian League (ISL) season. The tournament starts on October 12, with Mumbai City FC playing in the season opener against Atlético de Kolkata at Kolkata’s famous Salt Lake Stadium.
