Police Appeal for Witnesses

Police in Walsall are appealing for witnesses after a man was injured with an air weapon.

Officers were called at around 2.30pm after a man in his 30s was assaulted outside a house in Whitehall Road, Delves.

It appeared the man had been shot to the head with an air weapon and had a pellet lodged in his face.  He has since been taken to hospital for treatment.

Superintendent Maria Fox from Walsall police station said: “Officers arrived at the scene shortly after the assault was reported to us and following an area search, a man was arrested nearby in connection with firing the weapon.

“We would like to reassure residents that this is an isolated matter, which appears to have taken place between two men known to one another.

“Inquiries are at an early stage and officers will remain in the area while they gather information relevant to their investigation.

“I would urge anyone who thinks they may have seen or heard anything which could help us to call police on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
