This month the on-going conflict between Israel and Palestine was brought home onto British shores by way of numerous protests and demonstrations and we report on the protest which took place in Birmingham.
With tens of thousands of Britons taking to the streets to express their outrage on the atrocities in the Gaza conflict, a number of politicians joined the debate and we report on the resignation of Baroness Warsi in protest against the British Government’s policy on the crisis in Gaza.
In celebration of the 67th anniversary of India and Pakistan’s independence, we took a look at the effect the separation of British India into the two independent states has had on the modern nations of India and Pakistan. We also had the privilege to speak to individuals who had been affected by the partition in 1947 and were enlightened through their personal stories.
We spoke to the lovely Nesdi Jones (The Desi Gori) about her experiences in the Bhangra Industry and she regaled us with her delightful stories. We also interviewed Bollywood star of action comedy ‘Kick’, Jacqueline Fernandez.
Looking at the sporting summer which is well under way, we saw the end of the Glasgow Common Wealth Games in which India performed brilliantly and also had the opportunity to report on the inauguration of kabaddi onto the International scene with the World Kabaddi League.
Looking forward to the upcoming month, don’t forget about Ustad Rahat Fateh Ali Khan’s journey ‘Back2Love’. He’s set to perform live at concert in Birmingham’s LG Arena on Bank Holiday Monday 25th August 2014.
