Bollywood’s leading man Ajay Devgn is set to reprise his iconic role as the charismatic and fearless Inspector Bajirao Singham in this Summer’s big-screen action offering ‘Singham Returns’, which releases worldwide on Indian Independence Day, 15th August 2014 through Reliance Entertainment.
Audiences will be treated to a feast of fist-fights, fanciful footwork and fantastic stunts, as Ajay resumes the role he first made world-famous in 2011, this time also adding a producer credit to his impressive cache of career highs together with Reliance Entertainment.
Singham Returns pays homage to the original blockbuster film ‘Singham’, which re-defined the action genre in Indian cinema with its stellar narrative of good versus evil, sensational stunt sequences and perfectly choreographed action. Singham Returns imbibes the core themes of India’s freedom, encapsulating such values as heroism, daring feats, determination and perseverance, as the ever-brave Inspector Bajirao Singham takes on the establishment to rid his city of corruption and deceit in the upper echelons of society.
The second instalment of the Singham brand once again reunites action film supremo Rohit Shetty (‘Golmaal’ series, Chennai Express) with award-winning actor and producer Ajay Devgn (Golmaal, Singham, Omkara) in what promises to be the must-see family ‘masala entertainer’ of the summer. Joining the successful pairing of Ajay Devgn and director Rohit Shetty is leading lady and fellow Golmaal 2 and 3 co-star Kareena Kapoor Khan (3 Idiots). Other notable performances come from internationally-renowned actor Anupam Kher (Bend It Like Beckham, Silver Linings Playbook) and Amol Gupte (Taare Zameen Par).
Complementing the all-star line-up is a well-written script by acclaimed writing duo Sajid-Farhad, who penned the original script for Singham as well as writing other hit films, such as Housefull 2 and Bol Bachchan. The rousing musical score is expertly put together by Ankit Tiwari, perfectly nuancing every finite detail of this gripping and intense film.
