Warwickshire County Cricket Club at Edgbaston says it has a robust strategy in place for the next few years with world class events which will include the Ashes in 2015, the Pakistan Test in 2016 and the ICC Champions Trophy in 2017. The club says it has a four year strategic plan to be the best cricket business in the world and continues to provide England with a minimum of three players and a pipeline of high class talent. Chief executive, Colin Povey, said the city’s economy benefits from £15m with 150,000 visitors per annum and worldwide media coverage. He was speaking at a dinner hosted by the Hyatt Regency Birmingham, for patrons, premier plus partners, executive committee members and invited guests of the Institute of Asian Businesses (IAB). The audience of 60 also heard from Gareth Roberts, commercial director at the club.
Nasir Awan, president of the IAB said: “The event provided an excellent opportunity to make or renew contacts with other key business representatives and also to enjoy the superb facilities at the Hyatt with excellent Asian cuisine sponsored by Itihaas. The special dinner for IAB Patrons is held twice a year.”
