Farah Afzal Went Missing on January 16
Barcelona football fans that travelled from Spain for yesterdays Champions League match against Manchester City have been urged to be on alert and lookout for a missing baby and her parents.
The alarm was raised by a judge after four-month-old Farah Afzal went missing during proceedings at the Family Division of the High Court in London.
London’s Harrow Council brought the proceedings “following Farah’s birth social workers had concerns about her welfare.”
According to Mr Justice Keehan, authorities became involved after the “long-standing drug abuse” by Farah’s parents; Zainab Rasul 30 and Mohammed Afzal 38.
Authorities believe that the child’s mother is thought to be in the Spanish City after “council workers were told Farah had gone missing on January 16 and the infant and her parents were known to have flown to Spain from Gatwick.”
Now authorities are appealing to an international level as the court gave permission for the identity of the 4-month-old was revealed in hope that publicity would lead to her whereabouts.
Talking before the game, Harrow Council leader Susan Hall said, “The evidence we have suggests that the parents and baby Farah have been staying in a run-down area of Barcelona and we are worried for their welfare,”
“There are tens of thousands of Barcelona fans in the UK tonight for the big game.
“My appeal is to those fans to keep their eyes open for baby Farah and her parents when they go home.”
The court is very concerned about the abduction of Farah during the proceedings. The proceedings were taken because of her parents’ abuse of illegal drugs and their dependency on them.
“The documentary evidence filed raises real concerns about the ability of the parents to care for the baby safely.”
International police organisation, Interpol, have been alerted and an investigation has been opened.
