Reshma had been battling with throat cancer for many years
Famous Pakistani folk singer Reshma died in Lahore on Sunday 4th sources have said. The legendary singer was suffering from throat cancer for a long time. Geo TV was quoted saying Reshma was in coma for a month.
Reshma was just 12 years old when a producer spotted her singing at a shrine in Pakistan. The producer arranged for her to record her first song called ‘Laal Meri’ on radio. This was her first famous hit.
Reshma is one of the most popular folk singers in Pakistan, she appeared on television in the 1960’s recording songs for both the Pakistani and Indian entertainment industry.
Born in Bikaner in India’s Rajasthan state to a Banjara family around 1947, her tribe migrated to Karachi shortly after partition.
Some of her songs include “Dama Dam Mast Kalandar”, “Hai O Rabba nahion lagda dil mera”, “Sun charkhe di mithi mithi cook mahiya meinu yaad aunda”, “Wey main chori chori”, “Ankhiyan no rehen de ankhyan de kol kol” and “Lambi Judai”.
