Reality TV star transformed into Bollywood Queen thanks to Birmingham designer
SHE may be one of the stars of ITV’s hit reality show The Only Way is Essex, but for Lauren Goodger the only way to Bollywood glam was down Birmingham’s Soho Road!
The TV star paid a visit to top Birmingham designer Sati Takhar eager to get a captivating Bollywood look for the launch of the new Indian restaurant, Headley Spice in Brentwood.
The bespoke designer, whose shop ‘Sati’ is based on Soho Road, Handsworth, dressed the reality TV star in a stunning corset and sari with pearl embroidery.
The look, which was finished off with styling by Essex based celebrity makeup artist Aysha, transformed Lauren from Essex Princess to Bollywood Queen.
And the TV star was thrilled with her eastern makeover.
“Us Essex girls love to dress up- so looking like a Bollywood Princess was a dream come true,” Lauren said.
“Sati’s design was glamorous, elegant and sari’s make you feel sexy.”
Since attending the launch of Headley Spice pictures of Lauren’s amazing Bollywood makeover have been splashed across newspaper and magazines – and Sati admits his phone hasn’t stopped ringing since!
“Creating a dress that Lauren was comfortable in was important. I now have the phone ringing non-stop with people wanting the ‘Lauren sari’,” he says.
“I can’t believe that I have gone from the Soho Road to ‘The Only Way is Essex’!”
Towie star Lauren is just one of a long list of celebs who have turned to Sati for eastern inspiration.
Bollywood actress Mahima Choudhary is a regular customer, while British Model Sophie Anderton, TV Presenter Lizzy Cundy and WAG Alex Best have all been dressed by the talented designer.
Sati’s path to fashion stardom is an interesting story in itself.
Packing his bags and moving to London to study law, Sati soon realised it wasn’t for him.
He secretly changed to fashion and design spending the remainder of his course avoiding questions from family members as to ‘why was he always sketching and not reading law books!’
He finally owned up to his parents in the final year of his course and the rest is history.
What the legal world lost out on, the fashion world definitely gained!
