Lasan support slips, trips and falls campaign
A RESTAURANT director and chef who have been given the seal of approval by Gordon Ramsay have backed the Health and Safety Executive’s call for restaurateurs to reduce the likelihood of slips, trips and falls in their kitchens.
Chef Aktar Islam and his business partner Jabbar Khan made headlines at the beginning of the year when their Birmingham restaurant Lasan was crowned best local restaurant in the UK by Ramsay, on the fifth series of his F Word TV programme.
But the pair are keen to show that it is not just their food and service which is subjected to outstanding attention to detail – the safety of their employees is paramount as well.
That is why they have called on other restaurants across the UK to heed the HSE’s warning that slips, trips and falls in the workplace could have serious repercussions.
These incidents caused 1,396 major injuries to workers in the West Midlands last year, as well as 3,044 workers having to take in excess of three days off work.
Jabbar said: “Having a top restaurant is about more than amazing food. It has long been recognised that first class customer service is part of what makes a restaurant stand out, but we want to show other restaurants that the care of their employees should be paramount as well.”
