Bollywood actress ties the knot in lavish ceremony
BOLLYWOOD actress Shilpa Shetty has married British businessman Raj Kundra in a lavish ceremony in India.
The 34-year-old tied the knot in Khandala, Western India this weekend in the presence of her family and friends.
The actress announced her engagement to business partner Raj Kundra last month following a two-year romance.
She refused to reveal details of the actual wedding date at the time, although the Indian media went into overdrive when her sister, Shamita, suddenly quit India’s version of Big Brother over a week ago.
It was Britain’s version of Celebrity Big Brother which catapulted Shetty into the limelight after she was subjected to racial bullying from Jade Goody, a fellow contestant.
She met businessman Raj Kundra shortly after appearing on the Channel 4 show in 2007.
Speaking to the Times of India, Shetty said: “This is my dream wedding. We plan to shuttle between Mumbai and London after marriage. I shall strive to be as successful at home as I am outside. I want to excel as a homemaker.”
With her Bollywood career on hold, Shetty has excelled as an entrepreneur, launching perfume brands, filming yoga videos and investing in restaurants and health spas.
