Third charge in murder of Birmingham man Shanwaz Ali
A MAN accused of murdering a Birmingham man in 2006 has been extradited from the United Arab Emirates.
Detectives charged the 27-year-old man with the murder of Shanwaz Ali who was attacked and stabbed outside his home in Oakwood Road, Sparkhill in the early hours of 26 January 2006.
This is the first time somebody has been extradited to the UK from the UAE.
He landed at Heathrow Airport this morning and was taken straight to a Birmingham police station where he was charged with murder.
He will appear before Birmingham Magistrates this afternoon.
Two men – Mohammed Shakil, of Washwood Heath, and Mussadir Zaman, of Birmingham, were given life sentences at Birmingham Crown Court – in June 2007 for Mr Ali’s murder.
