Victim died from single punch

A BIRMINGHAM student has admitted the manslaughter of a man who died from a single punch to the head.

Mohammed Waqar, 22, pleaded guilty to killing Simon Bampton at Bristol Crown Court. Mr Bampton died following the altercation in Bristol on August 19 last year.

Birmingham City University student, Waqar was working in Bristol as a bouncer at the time of the attack.

The court was told Mr Bampton was walking through the city centre with a colleague when he was involved in an altercation with Waqar.

Judge Jamie Tabor QC adjourned the case for sentence to February 4.

Waqar, from Stratford Road in Sparkhill, was bailed on condition that he live at his Birmingham address, abide by a curfew from 7pm to 7am and also surrender his passport.
