Police name female victim
A MAN has been charged with the murder of an Indian student in Birmingham.
The 24-year-old man appeared at Birmingham Magistrates Court.
Police were called to a house in Montague Road, Handsworth on Tuesday following reports of a person found with serious injuries.
Detectives today named the victim as Samrajyo Jyothirmai Vempala, a 23-year-old Indian national who was in the UK on a study visa.
She was studying at the University of Wolverhampton.
A post-mortem examination found she died of head injuries.
