Business mogul sets sights on Indian market
HE may seem an unlikely Bollywood hero, but Virgin boss Richard Branson proved he may just have what it takes to cut it alongside Shah Rukh and Salman after starring in his first Bollywood film.
The business mogul was in India to launch the country’s first youth-focussed mobile service in association with Tata Teleservices and Virgin Mobile India.
But it was his gun-tooting, actress smooching role in India’s first live Bollywood film Andaaz Apna Very Hatke which caught the attention of the nation.
The Virgin Mobile-backed film, a 20 minute mini-blockbuster, was broadcast live on Channel V and saw Branson getting intimate with former Miss India and Bollywood actress Neha Dupia.
Branson is one of many international figures to have accepted bit parts in Bollywood films.
Ex-Page 3 model Samantha Fox featured in Rock Dancer while Spice Girl Emma Bunton tried her hand at a bit of Bollywood song and dance in Pyar Mein Twist.
