POLICE are re-appealing for witnesses to contact them following a fatal car crash in which a Leicester man died.
23-year-old Nilesh Raja, of Hamilton, Leicester, died after the Toyota Corolla car he was driving hit a white Vauxhall van on the A47 on 9 January.
Mr Raja suffered fatal injuries and died at the scene.
Police today issued a fresh appeal for witnesses to the accident, and in particular appealed to the driver of a car travelling in front of the van to contact officers.
PC Louise Lees from the road policing unit said: “The Toyota was travelling county bound on the A47 when it was involved in a collision with the van which was travelling in the opposite direction.
“We believe there was a car travelling city bound in front of the van and we are appealing to the occupants of this vehicle to contact us, as they may be able to assist with our investigation.
“I would also appeal to anyone who was travelling on the A47 around the time of the incident and remembers witnessing the collision or seeing either of the vehicles beforehand to contact us.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact PC 4155 Louise Lees in the RPU on Leicester (0116) 222 2222 and follow the instructions to leave a message for an officer and when prompted key in the officers identification number 4155. Alternatively contact Crimestoppers, which is free* and anonymous, on 0800 555 111.
