DETECTIVES investigating the murder of two men in a Shropshire village have released the name of one of the deceased.

He has been named as 31-year-old Jaswant Singh Bajwa who lived above the Shawbury Fish Bar where his body was discovered last week.

Police said he originated from the Punjab area of India where most of his family lives.

He was identified by a close relative living in England.

A relative of the second victim is flying from India over the next few days to confirm his identity.

Detectives were granted a 36 hour extension to continue interviewing suspect Sukhdave Singh who was arrested in Smethwick in west Midlands earlier this week.

Mr Singh, who is in his 20s, had shared a flat in Shawbury with Mr Bajwa and the other victim. He remains in custody at Telford Police Station.

More than 100 police officers and specialist support staff are working on the case.
