THE CHIEF Constable of Leicestershire Constabulary has paid tribute to the city’s multi-cultural community.
Chief Constable Matt Baggott, hosted the Force’s 15th intercultural evening at Force Headquarters earlier this month.
The annual event brings together the Chief Constable, police officers and staff and support groups with representatives and members from the various religious, youth, cultural, statutory agencies and voluntary groups.
The police force said it was an opportunity to thank invited guests and the organisations they represent for their continued support.
Superintendent Steve Boulton, from the Force’s Community Safety Bureau, said: “The event, which allows people from the many diverse communities to come together in an informal and relaxed environment, has grown from strength to strength.
“We continue to receive extremely positive feedback from guests who look forward to the event and this is reflected in the ever increasing number of people attending.
During the evening, the Chief Constable also outlined the tremendous contribution made by the community to policing and reaffirmed the Force’s pledge to listen to concerns and work together to find a solution.
