A POLICE officer who was involved in a three-car collision in which a mother-of-three died is to face criminal charges.
The West Midlands Police officer, who has not been named, will face charges of dangerous driving.
45-year-old Bhupinder Kaur died after the Ford Escort she was travelling in with her family was caught up in a collision with the police car and a Renault Clio on 17 December last year.
The police patrol car was on its way to an emergency call when the collision occurred at the junction of Neachells Lane and Willenhall Road, opposite The Neachells pub, in Eastfield, Wolverhampton.
News of the prosecution follows an independent investigation conducted by the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) into the circumstances surrounding the crash.
A spokesman for the IPCC said: “An advice file was passed to the Crown Prosecution Service.
“The IPCC has now been informed of the CPS decision to commence criminal proceedings against a West Midlands Police officer for causing death by dangerous driving. All interested parties have been informed.”
