POLICE are hunting three Asian men after a city jeweller’s was targeted in a terrifying raid in broad daylight.
The incident happened at the Gold City store in Sparkbrook yesterday afternoon. Three men armed with hammers and a shotgun smashed their way through the locked front door of the shop as staff fled for their lives.
They grabbed what detectives said was a “large amount of jewellery” and fled the scene in a blue or purple Renault megane 225 car which was driven at speed along Alfred Road in the direction of Stoney lane.
Uniformed officers arrived on the scene within minutes and cordoned off the shop as crime officers carried out a fingertip search of the premises.

They wore face masks but are believed to be Asian males. They were all dressed in black.
Attacks on Asian jewellers have risen considerably in the past 12 months.
Earlier this year one man was left with serious facial injuries after a four-man gang lashed out with crowbars at the Gold Centre Jewellers in Alum Rock, while Father-of-two Varinder Sehdeva was stabbed in the chest as raiders targeted his store in Smethwick.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to the robbery yesterday to contact CID at Belgrave Road police station on 0845 113 5000.
