Mohammed Ali Sentenced to Six Years
Two people have been jailed after weapons and ammunition was recovered in Salford.
Mohammed Ali (25/03/1982) of Holst Avenue, Cheetham Hill and Beren Marshall (17/08/1981) of Shirley Avenue, Salford pleaded guilty to possession of a firearm, ammunition and a compressor.
Ali was sentenced to six years and Marshall to six years, four months at Manchester Crown Court.
On Wednesday 27 November 2013, Police officers sighted Marshall and Ali in two motor vehicles in the Shakespeare Road area of Swinton and they were believed to be involved in criminality.
Officers from the tactical firearms unit stopped the vehicle containing ALI on Great Cheetham St East, Salford and searched it. Inside, they discovered an Intratec Tec-9 9mm fully automatic pistol, silencer and ammunition.
Ali was arrested at the scene and Marshall handed himself into police on 2 December 2013.
Chief Superintendent Mary Doyle said: “The arrests were all part of Project Gulf, a multi-agency operation set up to tackle serious organised crime. Our message to those persons involved in criminality is that we will continue to work together in partnership with our local communities to identify those involved in any crime and bring them to Justice.”
