Khaleel Hussain Died in October
Police have opened a murder investigation after a toddler died with head injuries. Two-year-old Khaleel Hussain died after apparently falling ill at his home in the Stoke area of Coventry on October 22.
Having originally been admitted to University Hospital Coventry, he was soon after transferred to Birmingham Children’s Hospital; where he later died.
Although his post-mortem examination tests results came back as “inconclusive”, Police are treating the death as murder. Further tests are being carried out to establish what the toddler’s cause of death was.
Police have confirmed that a 21-year-old man and a 25-year-old woman who were arrested in connection with the investigation remain on police bail. They are interested in talking to anyone that knew Khaleel or have had contact with him, with the investigation trying to build a picture of the little boy’s life.
Detective Inspector Dean Young, from the Coventry Police Public Protection Unit, said, “We’re trying to put together a jigsaw of what happened to him.
“At this stage we know very little about him. He was a two-year-old boy, not in education. The family have been at the address in Coventry for a number of months.
“Now it’s about piecing everything together. From the Richmond Street area to down to Ball Hill members of the community may have seen Khaleel out and about. We want to know who he was with, where he was, that kind of thing.”
He added, “If anyone has any information that may be able to help us the right thing to do is come forward.
“A two-year-old child has died. We want to piece this together and get some closure.”
Anyone who has information regarding the investigation should get in contact with Coventry Police Public Protection Unit on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 551 111.
