Bolton girls get up close to Olympic Torch

A GROUP Of Bolton students wrapped their hands around Olympic history when they got the chance to hold the Olympic Torch.  

More than 140 pupils from Bolton Muslim Girls School visited Bolton College for a day of sporting fun and activities.

The Olympic-themed sports day was organised by Bolton College students, as part of their Level 3 Higher Sports Leaders award.

The girls had the opportunity to see Amir Khan’s Olympic torch, which made a special visit to the college for the occasion.

Ben Blocksidge, Bolton College Curriculum Leader for Sport, Fitness and Public Services, said: “It was fantastic to see the girls’ excitement when they had the chance to hold the Olympic torch for themselves. We hope they now take that enthusiasm forward with their own participation in sport in the future.”

 Zakiyyah Ahmed, Year 10 student at Bolton Muslim Girls School, said: “We would like to thank the college for an amazing experience, the event was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone. We are very grateful to have had the opportunity to hold the actual Olympic Torch!”
