Police appeal for information
POLICE are hunting a thief who targeted a pensioner in Leicester.
The 86-year-old woman had her gold necklace stolen as she walked in Collingham Road between 11.45am and 12pm on Saturday 8 October.
The man, described by Police as black, also attempted to take the victims bangles before he made off in a black Fiat Punto with two white men when the frail pensioner raised the alarm.
Police said she received minor injuries in the mugging and was left “shaken”.
PC Gemma Golding is investigating the incident, she said: “Although the victim received minor injuries she has been left extremely shocked and distressed by the incident. This was a callous attack on an elderly woman and we need to find the people responsible.
“It’s believed that the vehicle the suspects made off in had a partial registration number of OW07 and was seen driving off towards Dumbleton Avenue, Narborough Road, Braunstone Lane East and then Aylestone Lane.
“Did you see a similar vehicle being driven erratically along this route on Saturday afternoon or did you witness the incident in Collingham Road? If you can answer any of these questions then please get in touch. Any calls received will be treated in confidence.”
